AWB Limited is Australia's leading agribusiness and employs more than 2,200 people across more than 500 points of presence in Australia, India, Brazil, Switzerland and Singapore to the People's Republic of China and Japan. My belief in the power of education, my ability to convey complicated ideas to people, and my excellent written and oral communication skills led me to take on the role as the head of west coast training. When almost all of the other traders went home for the day I held lectures, mock trading sessions, administered tests, and was responsible for the evaluation of every new recruit in the office. I implemented and developed a training curriculum for the main office designed to give new traders the skills and confidence that they would need in order to survive and provide immediate profit for the group. The class outline included every aspect of options trading from synthetics, to arbitrage, hedging, volatility, advanced theory, and position management of derivatives and equities.
Implemented comprehensive classroom and mock trading curriculum for new recruits - speeding their profitability and directly contributing to bottom line of firm.
Increased firm wide productivity level by providing key contributions toward core business competencies.

As an active floor member on the Pacific Options Exchange, I was responsible for trading a portfolio of over 35 separate equities and the hundreds of related options classes associated with each one. The open outcry system used on the trading floor requires an exceptional level of risk awareness, time critical decision making, and quantitative ability. The role requires individuals who are not only quick on their feet, but are also savvy, competitive, and able to work independently in an often hostile environment. I believe that the strength of any business model can be improved through the development of relationships, and I was proactive in developing strong connections with fellow market makers, brokers, and order flow providers in order to bring additional business to our crowd.
One of my firm's top performers in FY 2001.
Solely responsible for the profit and loss related to the option classes traded.
Fast, level headed, and able to quickly assess risk.

I worked on Group One's risk desk, pricing and executing baskets of stocks, identifying and profiting from risk arbitrage and M&A situations and gaining my first exposure to convertibles and warrants. The risk desk is tasked with every aspect of risk control for the firm and, in addition, performs portfolio management, execution, and proprietary trading tasks covering a wide range of situations. It was during the slower periods of the day that I essentially taught myself the complexities of warrants and convertibles pair trading and convinced the firm to provide me with a small amount of capital to test my abilities. While earning a small salary of around $55,000 per year I earned the firm more than $300,000 over a 6 month period while at the same time excelling at my other duties on the desk.
Initiated and developed risk arbitrage, M&A, and warrants trading. Including pairs trading, synthetics, and convertible bond arbitrage.
Took leadership in every aspect of risk management, including portfolio hedging and managing derivatives exposure.

Group One's largest floor operations are located on the CBOE in Chicago. It was my pleasure to take over management of these operations during a period of extraordinary growth as they more than doubled in size. It was my belief that if a trader was provided a support staff that was competent, efficient, and well trained then they could focus all of their energy on trading and making more money for the firm. Many of the systems that I put in place to improve the efficiency and overall reliability of the support staff are still being used today.
Took leadership and proactive role in managing and expanding systems, personnel, and floor trading operations, improving the efficiency of the company's largest floor operations.
Managed a clerk staff of 25 people and kept their work day exciting, fun, and focused on the tasks at hand.
Directly responsible for all aspects of support for the floor traders allowing them to focus on making money.
