SIVAM was a project of the Brazilian Government to install a surveillance system throughout the Amazon for the purpose of environmental monitoring and Air Traffic Control. Raytheon supervised the electronics installation for 85 sites in the Amazon including radar, telecommunications, and environmental monitors with a major Air Traffic Control Center and three regional Environmental Control Monitoring facilities.
As a Field Supervisor for the installation of Telecommunications equipment, I participated in site readiness and equipment inventories, maintained calibration records for installation test equipment, witnessed acceptance tests, supported and supervised installation teams, tracked installation and test activities and generated status reports, wrote installation plans, and arranged in-country travel for installation team members. I was responsible for coordinating installation activities at multiple sites simultaneously. My job location was Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.
